A Respectful Approach to Separation
At Soul Family Law, we believe that the end of a relationship doesn’t have to mean the beginning of conflict.
We offer a respectful, family-focused approach that keeps your voice at the center of the process.
Through the Collaborative Law method, we help couples resolve issues privately, efficiently, and with the support of a team — including lawyers, parenting coaches, financial specialists, and more. Whether or not children are involved, this process focuses on clear communication, mutual respect, and sustainable solutions.
You remain in control of the outcome, with a process that is typically faster, more cost-effective, and less stressful than going to court.
“New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.”
Soul Family Law offers support and guidance in the following:
Areas of Practice
-
Collaborative family law is a respectful, non-adversarial approach that allows separating spouses to work together, with the support of trained professionals, to resolve their issues outside of court. The goal is to reach a mutually agreeable Separation Agreement while maintaining control over the process and outcomes.
-
An Agreement reached between two separated parties that contains agreements with respect to custody, child support, spousal support, property division, pensions, child relevant provisions (such as travel, holiday time etc). Kimberly Soul can provide the drafting of a Separation Agreement and provide independent legal advice with respect to terms of a Separation Agreement reached between spouses whether they have reached resolution through the Collaborative process or otherwise.
-
An Order whereby the terms are agreed to between spouses. Kimberly Soul can assist with the drafting, independent legal advice and obtaining a Court Order which contains the terms of a Separation Agreement (whether reached through the Collaborative process or otherwise) or terms consented to between spouses.
-
The process of obtaining a divorce in Manitoba requires a Petition for Divorce to be filed and served along with corresponding documents. Once a Divorce Judgement is pronounced the divorce will become final after 31 days at which time a Divorce Certificate can be ordered from the Court to complete the divorce process.
-
An Agreement reached between two parties considering cohabitation, or already doing so, that allows them to agree now what would happen with their assets, debts and support should they one day separate.
-
An Agreement reached between two parties contemplating marriage, or after marriage, who wish to determine now what would happen with their assets, debts and support should they one day separate.
-
A process whereby a neutral third party assists parents and/or separating spouses find mutually agreeable solutions to the problems surrounding separation and facilitate a mutually agreeable co-parenting plan. Kimberly Soul has a Certificate in Family Mediation Training. The parties are in control of the process. The mediator does not make decisions but rather facilitates communication to assist the spouses with reaching a consensus. The agreed upon terms can be formalized in a Separation Agreement. Each party would require Independent Legal Advice on the terms reached.
